Gnarls Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Back into the world of AutoCAD after a 20 year absence. When exporting dynamic block parameter data to Excel using the wizard, all data ends up as text (ex: 3'6 1/2") which is useless for using within Excel formulas. Is there a way around this other than changing the units to decimal before I extract the data and then converting text back to numeric in Excel? Quote
SLW210 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I believe the problem is on Excels end, it just doesn't see Feet and Inches without some code or add-ins. Remember, basically spreadsheets are accounting sheets, but I see this asked a bit on Excel related sights, you would think there would be an inbuilt solution by now. Have you looked into Libreoffice or OpenOffice? http://josh.com/InchCalc/index.htm is an add-in, but not sure how/if this works for data brought in from AutoCAD. Lots of info on Excel/Spreadsheet related sights. Most AutoCAD users AFAIK, just convert to decimal. Hopefully, an AutoCAD user will come along and show it can be done. Quote
Gnarls Posted January 29, 2015 Author Posted January 29, 2015 Thanks, I figured as much. I was hoping that there would be an option within the data export to always export numbers as decimal. Quote
