Back into the world of AutoCAD after a 20 year absence.

When exporting dynamic block parameter data to Excel using the wizard, all data ends up as text (ex: 3'6 1/2") which is useless for using within Excel formulas. Is there a way around this other than changing the units to decimal before I extract the data and then converting text back to numeric in Excel?

I believe the problem is on Excels end, it just doesn't see Feet and Inches without some code or add-ins.

Remember, basically spreadsheets are accounting sheets, but I see this asked a bit on Excel related sights, you would think there would be an inbuilt solution by now.

Have you looked into Libreoffice or OpenOffice?

http://josh.com/InchCalc/index.htm is an add-in, but not sure how/if this works for data brought in from AutoCAD.

Lots of info on Excel/Spreadsheet related sights.

Most AutoCAD users AFAIK, just convert to decimal. Hopefully, an AutoCAD user will come along and show it can be done.

Thanks, I figured as much. I was hoping that there would be an option within the data export to always export numbers as decimal.
