SAFeSTeR Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Hi, I've inherited some drawings which use a lot of custom linetypes which seem to be embedded into the drawing itself. I want to edit them but am unable to locate them. I've checked the acad.lin and they are not found there. Is there any way I can edit them from within the drawing or will I have to create new linetypes and replace / purge the existing ones out? Thanks in advance. Quote
ReMark Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 (edited) You can't edit them because the linetype definitions are inaccessible. I think there are one or two ways to obtain the information though using a custom lisp program. Refer to the links that SLW210 posted. Edited January 26, 2015 by ReMark Quote
SAFeSTeR Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 I'm not sure what you mean by 'accessible', did you mean inaccessible? Also, I would prefer to be able to edit these linetypes in the future so having access to them or the ones I replace them with is key for me. Quote
ReMark Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 (edited) Yes, they are inaccessible. Edited January 26, 2015 by ReMark Quote
SLW210 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 (edited) Or maybe this LinOut Edited January 28, 2015 by SLW210 removed bad link. Quote
SAFeSTeR Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 Thanks SLW210, LinOut looks good judging by it's description so I'll check it out when I'm less busy. The link for ToLin doesn't seem to exist anymore. Quote
ReMark Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Try this one....it worked for me. http://www.turvill.com/t2/free_stuff/index.htm A copy of the TOLIN.lsp routine. ToLin.lsp Quote
rkmcswain Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Linetype definitions are accessible using autolisp or other APIs, but it's much easier to use the ToLin lisp routine and then edit the LIN files. Quote
SAFeSTeR Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 Or maybe this LinOut This worked perfectly for my purpose, thanks very much SLW210. I didn't need to try the other methods but thanks everyone else for your input. Quote
