(AutoCad 2014) We have many blocks in our drawings. At some point 3 instances of a block was updated and inserted into the drawing. This should automatically update all instances of a block in the drawing. However, 2 existing blocks of the exact same name did not update.

They refuse to extract in our "EATTEXT" data extraction because they do not have the updated attribute definitions.

However, when one ATTSYNC's the 2 existing blocks they update and will now extract.

We cannot go around using ATTSYNC all the time since we have hundreds of different blocks. Anyone else have this same problem? I can enter an asterisk at the Name option for the command ATTSYNC, but it takes forever.

This part of your question is hard to understand. Can you try to better explain it?

Are you just updating the attribute values? Then look into the GATTE command instead of trying to update the blocks.

If you need to update the actual attribute definitions, then you may be out of luck.

A more specific explanation of what you are trying to accomplish may reveal something so that we can make this easier for you.

When you insert the redefined block, are you shown a dialog box, like the one in the image?

What is your EXPERT system variable set to?

Or might someone have turned off this particular dialog?

If so you can turn it back on, in the Hidden Message Settings.

Might you be confusing XRefing with Inserting?

An XRef would update itself automatically.

might someone have hidden this message.JPG
