Updated XREF causes viewport layer visibility to reset

Hello all,

 

I have a Civil 3D drawing with an xref to another drawing. When I change the xref and update the reference in the main drawing, all the xref layers I had frozen in the main drawing viewport suddenly come on. Xref layers that are frozen in model space or turned off stay frozen or turned off after updating, but if an xref layer was only frozen in the viewport, it comes on after updating the xref.

 

Any ideas?

I suspect that you want to change your VISRETAIN setting, as shown in the sysvdlg screenshot.
