jay3791 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Can someone please confirm my sanity? I seem to remember in the not so distant past that Autocad had a system variable that stored the last scale factor used by the scale command. The command line would display something like this: Specify scale factor (Copy/Reference) : The previous scale factor being shown inside the "" (1.0000 being the default). You could just hit enter and it would automatically scale the new selection set by that scale factor. This feature still works, if you just hit enter without specifying a scale factor, you will get the previous one. However, it is no longer displayed in "" and I can't find anything referencing a variable that is storing the last scale factor. Btw, I'm using Autocad 2013 Quote
neophoible Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I'm using 2012 and see the same command line output and results as you do, that is, no brackets showing the default, yet it uses the last scale entered if I just press Enter. Quote
Dadgad Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I don't recall seeing such a display for SCALE. I am using 2013 too, and I am unaware of any variable controlling the display of Previous use. There are lots of other commands that display the previous value used, like Offset, Radius or Chamfer, might you be remembering the display from one of those? Having dug a little deeper I see that if you are using the Reference option within the Scale command, the previous value IS displayed. Quote
Dana W Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 In my 2009 version, it shows the last used scale factor OR being the default, in the command line AFTER selecting the basepoint. It also shows in the dynamic input field while hovering over the selected basepoint. In my 2015 trial version, the last used scale factor does not show at all. I tested that it remembers it when just doing a pure scale, but it certainly doesn't show it. In fact is does not remember the last used scale factor when the Copy option is used. I didn't test the Reference option. It isn't just your program, and it is apparently not an error on your part. They changed something since 2010. I guess we will just have to get used to always typing in the factor to be on the safe side. I looked all over the Options tabs and Dsettings tabs in 2015 and did not find anything that would switch it on. There is nothing in the Help files about it. Quote
ReMark Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Sometimes we just have to stop living in the past. AutoDesk has consistently shown they will change things and give us no rhyme or reason for the change. We either live with i t(find a work-around) or we change the program we're using. The other option would be to request a custom lisp routine or write one ourselves. Quote
ROBP Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Cad users always did adapt to the changes made to it, lets face it the change is not that drastic like the major one they did from the first issued one (on two floppy's to the Cad14 one.......gishhhhhh the old days Quote
