kenny Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Hi. I have CAD 2009 I have 1/16 annotated text The layout is 1:200 I want a multileader with the same 1/16 text. I created a new multileader - Standard - annotative In layer style mgr I am not able to change the text height. It is grayed out 1/8. I need 1/16. Aside from that issue, I have a problem with the arrow. In the layer style mgr the preview looks good. But when I draw a multileader at 1:1 or 1:200 in model space both appear the same in both model and paper space showing no arrow. Don't know what I am doing wrong. Actually this is the first time using multileader. Watched many tutorials but no good. thanks Quote
ReMark Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I respectfully disagree that 1:200 is the same as 1"=200'. ISO standard metric scales: - 10:1, 5:1, 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, 1:5, 1:10, 1:20, 1:50, 1:100, 1:200. 1:500, 1:1000, 1:2000, 1:5000... Quote
kenny Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 So you think that is my problem? What do you suggest? Quote
ReMark Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I think it could be at the root of your problem. Did you happen to verify what this 1:200 scale is set to in the scalelist? What is the source of the drawing? Quote
kenny Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 It is a drawing from scratch. Architectural layout. Quote
ReMark Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 When you did the drawing did you use the acad.dwt template file or a different one? Architectural layout? OK. What are the overall dimensions of the building footprint? You're not showing the building as it might be situated on a piece of land are you? What size paper will you be printing this drawing out on? Quote
ReMark Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Typical architectural scales as used in the U.S. Most plan views of a building are done either in 1/8th or 1/4 scale. Details will be done at a larger scale. Ex. - 1/2'=1'-0" or 1 1/2"=1'-0" Site plans are done using engineering scales such as 1"=20', 1"=40', 1"=50', 1"=100', and 1"=200'. USGS quad maps are done at a scale of 1"=2000'. Quote
kenny Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 I used an architectural template. The drawing is of a cemetery. I am plotting the tombstones and assigning numbers to them. It will be printed out 11x17. There will not be any dimensions, just tombstone numbers. The cemetery fit perfectly in a 11x17 layout at 1:200 Quote
ReMark Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 It probably would have been better if you had drawn the cemetery using engineering units not architectural units. Architectural units would normally be used for buildings not for pieces of property. Did the cemetery layout have dimensions on it to begin with? Just curious. How did you locate the tombstones on the site plan of the cemetery? At this point it sounds like you basically have a "sketch" that is drawn without regard to actual real world size so basically you can just "wing it" when it comes to sizing your arrows. How much experience do you have using AutoCAD to begin with? Quote
kenny Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 I haven't used Cad in a long time - just getting back into it now. The cemetery came in as an image. I scaled it to google maps based on a building in the cemetery. There will be no dimensions just markers and numbers of tombstones which are marked in the image. I am just making it look neat. I only used architectural units because i wanted a 1/16 text size. The image matches perfectly with google earth and it all fits in nicely to a 11x17 layout at 1:200. Everything was going fine until they had to bury people close together. Then came the need for a multileader. Then came the problem. If the text (tombstone numbers) annotate perfectly I don't understand why I can't get the multiline text to match and on top of that even have an arrow show. Quote
kenny Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 yes - everything looks great in the viewport except arrows Quote
ReMark Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Attach a copy of the DWG file to your next post and someone here will take a look at it. Quote
ReMark Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Strange. I just clicked on multileader, drew my leader, added my text and it showed right up, arrowhead and all. Quote
ReMark Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I just checked. It's 1:200. Recognize this? I did it twice just to make sure I was doing what you asked. Worked both times. Quote
