JD Mather Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Success. Here it is. Thank you guys. About to post another I will need help with as well. Making progress, but - before moving on, I would recommend starting over and use a technique that does not create double lines (the long centerlines over top of each other) as down the road extra geometry like this will cause problems when you get to 3D. (takes less than 3 minutes to do over correctly from scratch) - in my grading (and in your pdf example) the centerlines should extend beyond the object lines (I clearly show stretching these in my video example). - the instructions on the pdf indicate to place the center of the geometry at (0,0). Attention to details like these separate the "A" students from the rest. Quote

JD Mather Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Attention to detail. A trait many CAD techs seem to be missing these days. 14/17 of my freshman students got "A" from me this semester. Best class I have seen in 21 yrs of doing this. I'm going to have to get tougher next year to get my normal bell curve. Oh they have no idea what's coming! Quote
ReMark Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Compared to what you put your students through the "real world" will seem like a piece of cake. Quote
Dadgad Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I figured out how to shave a few more seconds off of the process.1. The obvious - where I missed that one line in the first mirror. 2. The advanced technique - use a sacrificial construction circle and extrim command to trim out all those lines in the middle. I like that EXTRIM call to help get it over the line in a timely fashion. One has to get up pretty early in the morning though to beat this technique, the bar has officially been raised. http://www.lee-mac.com/koch.html Quote
neophoible Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Well, an apparent improvement over 21 years could be due to many factors: more extensive previous experience of students, better student to teacher fit, improvement in teaching methods, better/more accessible outside help, selectively skewed sample, etc. Also, a sample size of only 17 is not necessarily normal. Might just as well compare it to the overall results of the other classes over 21 years and note the curve there. Quote
