Pipe Network Labeling

So I am profiling some storm drain pipe and would like to label it with accurate labels. What I mean is that right now I use a profile label (blue in the image) to reflect the correct invert elevation at the edge of the manhole. I would like to use part labels so that as I modify the pipe the label will be dynamic. In the image the yellow labels are the part labels but I am having trouble getting the leader to attach to anywhere different than the centerline of the pipe. Where can I go to find out how to modify the style and/or pipe to allow dynamic labels? I am currently using Civil 3D 2014.
