Hello,

I am drawing some projects from an old textbook, to expand my portfolio. I'm not sure what information to include in the drawing of a transition piece. Could someone with a familiarity with HVAC drawings check this drawing for me and let me know what other dimensions/information would be expected on this drawing? Also, if you notice any problem with accuracy, I would appreciate if you would let me know.

Thanks,

That looks very similar to the HVAC project drawing (see image below) that Penn-Foster students were assigned. The intent of the drawing is to show true lengths of the transition piece is it not?

Good eye. It's not the same, but very similar. I completed the Penn Foster program (thanks for the help you've provided in the past, as I referenced several threads here several times). I was wanting to do a few more transition pieces/sheet metal drawings for my portfolio, so I got this example from a text book my dad used when he was in school. I don't really know how they are supposed to look in the real world though. I did make two changes since I posted that. I put all the line labels on a layer and turned that layer on, and I did a table with line lengths, similar to what Penn Foster required in their drawing. I'm not really sure what information would be expected in the real world on a drawing like that though. Any tips would be appreciated.

HVAC is not my strong suit so I'm afraid I'll have to defer to those who know better than I what additional information you would need to show. You can find images of transition pieces rectangular-to-round quite easily on the Internet if you want to know what one would look like.

Rectangle-to-round transition constructed using the Loft command.

The measurements used were taken from the P-F drawing example in my first post.
