Hello, can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

 

 

Sometimes when I dimension in paper space the dimension is slightly less that the actual dimension.

 

 

Eg. If I have a 300mm line (I have double checked it in model space) it will dimension in paper space as 299.95

 

 

It is not all the time. It is driving me nuts. Does anyone know what this is?

Welcome to CADTutor forum! :)

 

Enter UNITS at the commandline, when the dialog box comes up, change the precision,

as shown in the screenshot, by clicking on the dropdown menu and selecting an appropriate precision level.

 

When you check it in modelspace, the response you get is set to the precision level

which is set in your UNITS.

The DIMSTYLE which you are using has a precision level which is defined in the MODIFY

dimstyle dialogue, on the PRIMARY UNITS tab, which is why they seem to be at odds with one another.

Thank you. That didn't help in paper space, however it helped me figure out how to do it in paper space.

Are you working in Imperial or Metric units?

I still don't know why this is happening and I have to change then individually.

If you redefine the precision in your dimstyle, rather than overwriting them in properties individually,

then any dimensions which have been created previously in that dimstyle, will all change at the same time.

Autocad defaults to IMPERIAL unit templates, so pay extra attention to selecting an appropriate TEMPLATE.

This is addressed in the tutorial, I believe.

When you do your dimensioning are you using your OSnaps?

 

BTW...are your dimensions associative?

BTW, changing the precision only hides the issue. The inaccuracy is still there. If the drawing and viewport scale are correct, one cause could be that the objects are very far from (0,0).
