netman Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 How do I measure an arc segment within a circle? I want to measure the length of an arc, example: A-B thank you. Quote
ROBP Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Copy it then trim it and dimarc in command prompt pick the arc and get the lenght Or pick the arc and use properties it will give you the exact dimension One could always use the list command too Quote
Dana W Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Unfortunately, the part of the circle between the two lines won't be recognized as an arc by the arc length dim tool, so you have to substitute something. You could trim the circle between the lines, then draw an arc to replace the trimmed piece of the circle, or simply draw an arc over the circle from one line to the other, then place the dimension on the arc. It depends on how important the circle remaining a circle is to you. Quote
netman Posted April 27, 2014 Author Posted April 27, 2014 Thank You both for the information. I can easily do that. Quote
Dana W Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Thank You both for the information. I can easily do that.If you go the trim route, and replace the circle segment with an arc, you can run the pedit command (polyline edit) and change the two resulting arcs to polylines. They will remain arcs, but then you can use polyline edit to join the two arcs back to one entity. The beauty of this is that the two poolyline arcs will still be recognozed as arcs by the arc length dim tool, even though they are joined together. They will not be recognized as a circle though. Like this one. arc dwg.dwg Quote
