bdfraz Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 When I derive a part in to a new file it just drops in and doesn't give me the option to choose if I want surfaces or to scale it. I know what it is supposed to do but it isn't doing it. Is there a setting that might be turned off? Quote
JD Mather Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 How are you getting there? Pushing out Derive or Pulling in? Start new part file. Select Derive Component and browse to desired file to pull in (post screen shot of what you see). Quote
bdfraz Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 I can't do screen shots (window xp). I am pulling it in and selecting the part and it sets in showing all of the work planes but then all I can do is just right click and select ok. No additional window pops up to change the part. Quote
JD Mather Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I can't do screen shots (window xp). ..... Of course you can. Hit Print Screen on upper right corner of the keyboard. You have just captured a screen shot to the Windows Clipboard. Start Microsoft Paint. Hit Ctrl v to paste into MS Paint. Save as png and attach here. Quote
bdfraz Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 how do i attach the png into this thread? I am trying but it isn't working. Quote
JD Mather Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Ah, yes I have trouble too. I'll post step-by-step instructions later today. Quote
JD Mather Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I have not been able to use IE for attachments. I have not been able to use Image Attach icon above. In Chrome this is what has worked for me. Oops - I accidentally grabbed another unrelated shot and do not know how to remove it. Quote
bdfraz Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 I have attached the picture of what happens right after I select the file. From this point all I can do is just right click and select create. Quote
JD Mather Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Your screenshot is too blurry for me to see. Click on Inventor to make sure it is the active application (as opposed to AutoCAD). Then hit Alt Print Screen and paste into Paint (the Alt Print Screen should capture only the active application rather than the entire screen. In fact, Restore down and resize the Inventor application so that the interface is much smaller before capturing it. Quote
JD Mather Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Expecting to see this Dialog box after selecting file and hitting OK for file selection... I'm wondering if yours is somewhere off the screen. But I would then have to hit OK or Enter for the derivation to complete. Can you select the file click OK and then not another OK (since you don't see the dialog box anyhow) and also NOT hit Enter? Are you saying the derivation takes place directly after accepting the file? Quote
bdfraz Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 I think it could be off the screen but I don't see it anywhere on either of my 2 screens. Do you know how to locate those if they are off the screen? Quote
JD Mather Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 There is a Windows hotkey sequence to bring dialogs back on to the screen, but I can never remember what it is. Can you do the experiment I suggest above and NOT hit Enter after clicking the OK button for the file. Quote
bdfraz Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 I have messed with my display settings and found the dialogue box. Thanks! Quote
