Plotting 'Smudgy' to PDF File - Also missing Fonts

Hello,

I've printed to PDF many times, but have never run into this situation. My pdf is very smudgy, thick lines - and text is present but barely visible. I've attached a screen capture for reference.

I'm using ACAD 2005 on XP. I'm Xref'ing a furniture plan from a vendor with their blocks into an architects base plan. The base plan is printing fine, but the furniture blocks are giving me troubles.

When I go to Text Style, the style name (from the furniture manufacturer) is one that I don't have. I think this is the cause of the messed up text. How does one change all the text in the drawing to another style? It would take a long time to select each item and change the style.

I've tried changing the line weights for the blocks that are printing thick and smudgy, with no luck. Please let me know if anyone has experienced something similar or has any ideas. This one has been giving me fits for awhile.

Many thanks.

Nathan

Are you using the Autodesk supplied pdf plotter? We had a similar issue and found the cause was using a non-autodesk pdf plotter. Hope that may be of help.

I would also double check your pen assignment to make sure it matches your usual plot method.

Thanks for the feedback. When I plot to PDF I select 'Adobe PDF' from the printer pull down menu. I have Adobe Acrobat installed, so I believe that works in conjunction with ACad for the plot.

I'll try pen assignments.

I realized the client can live with the thick lines, but the text won't work as it is. Does anyone know how I can change the text style to standard for all of the blocks and text currently in the drawing?

Maybe I should post to another forum section regarding the text style question.

Thanks.
