jdthompson9 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I am trying to design a duct cleaner and I am having trouble modling a hose system to wrap around my vacuumme assembly. can anyone give me any pointers? Quote
MSasu Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Most probably this is a job for SWEEP command - draw the section of the hose and extrude it along a 3DPolyline. Quote
ReMark Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 3DPolylines can't have curves in them so I hope it is a straight hose. Quote
jdthompson9 Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 vacuum platform.ipt I want to take the hose out of the top hole and wrap around the base of the platform. Quote
MSasu Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Entirely true, Remark! But if the discretization of that 3DPolyline in segments (by the way, is "defame" an appropriate term for this?) is small enough, the result may be a good enough approximation. May get better results with a spline. Quote
MSasu Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Jdthompson9, that IPT isn't an AutoCAD file! Are you using Inventor, by any chance? Quote
ReMark Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I want to take the hose out of the top hole and wrap around the base of the platform. I'm not running Inventor. I'm not sure how a hose is created in that program. Quote
jdthompson9 Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 do y'all think using the coil command would work? Quote
MSasu Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 First you will need to clarify what software you use! The question and your profile point to AutoCAD, but the file attached above say something else (Inventor). Quote
ReMark Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Search the Inventor forum using the word "hose". It may have come up as a topic in the past. Quote
ReMark Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Sure. Sorry I could not give you a definitive answer. Quote
Cad64 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I am using AutoCAD Inventor 2013. There is no such thing as "Autocad Inventor". Autocad and Inventor are two separate programs. What you are using is "Autodesk" Inventor. Autodesk is the company, Inventor and Autocad are the programs. I have moved your question to the Inventor forum. For best results, always post your questions in the proper area of the forum according to which program you are using. Quote
Bishop Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 There is no such thing as "Autocad Inventor". I'll just leave this here ... (Yes, I know it's an old version.) Quote
Cad64 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) I'll just leave this here ... That is a "Suite". It includes Autocad and Inventor. They are 2 separate programs. http://asean.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=14678731&siteID=1157326 The "Autocad Inventor Suite 2010" contains Autocad Mechanical and Inventor. It looks like the OP could benefit from the "Autocad Inventor Routed Systems Suite" which includes tube, pipe and flexible hose design. Edited April 3, 2014 by Cad64 Added graphic Quote
JD Mather Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 do y'all think using the coil command would work? I'm sure it would. But first I would concentrate on learning the basics. I noticed your Sketch1 did not have any dimensions. Why is that? http://home.pct.edu/~jmather/SkillsUSA%20University.pdf Quote
