rajasekarcmr
I have to take volume of concrete for PCC laid on excavated area. Top layer is flat but the depth of PCC varies in different location. Instead of taking like contour I took depth at regular intervals which makes a grid in mm . As in the attached picture I want to extrude those squares in -Z direction & corners of each extruded rectangular portion is equal to depth at that node as mentioned in the diagram & finally want to find volume of the PCC. Finding volume is not big problem but extruding is the problem. & I drew lines in -z direction using SW View but tried to draw the dimension of z axis it's showing value 0 in dimension. My problem is to find the volume of concrete & take a printout of the top view of the grid with depth at different nodes & show it to my client. ReMark
Create the squares using the polyline command (so it is one continuous entity) then use the EXTRUDE command specifying a negative "Z". It would probably be a good idea to be in one of the four standard isometric viewing modes when you do this so you can see the result. ReMark
First step is to create your grid of squares. Second step would be to extrude them in the negative "Z". In the example above squares have been extruded anyway from -6 to -10 units. Kind of difficult to see though from this perspective. ReMark
Our group of extruded squares after rotating using the 3DObject, or 3DO, command. Now we can better visual the difference in the various extrusions. BTW...each square is 2x2 units. There are 23 separate squares.
ReMark
What our 23 separate squares would look like if combined into one 3D solid using the Union command. Now we can find the volume using the Mass Properties, or MassProp, command. This is what the result would look like: Volume: 632.0000 Bounding box: X: 105.2642 -- 117.2642 Y: 5.7987 -- 19.7987 Z: -4.0902 -- 5.9098 Centroid: X: 111.3655 Y: 13.1279 Z: 2.2895 Moments of inertia: X: 123701.9188 Y: 7848943.9228 Z: 7959364.8631 Products of inertia: XY: 922116.4569 YZ: 17284.9390 ZX: 161724.8928 Radii of gyration: X: 13.9904 Y: 111.4415 Z: 112.2227 Principal moments and X-Y-Z directions about centroid: Press ENTER to continue: Write analysis to a file? rajasekarcmr
I already created the grid & have drawn lines in -z direction like this Then connected those bottom lines with 3D poly lines since I can't do it with 2D poly lines. I extruded the bottom rectangle but it's inclined.
rajasekarcmr
Thanks for your help bro. I already tried them. I know about extrude & union but I don't know how to extruded an cube with uneven top/bottom. I want an extruded 3D portion that should be like this. Edit: that 400 line too should be in Z axis in a haste I drew it inclined.
rajasekarcmr
Whoa this tapatalk didn't posted my previous post. Am in worksite where I have only EDGE internet access. I created grid with depth in -Z Then I used 3D poly line to connect those lines. Since 2D poly lines work with only X & Y This is how it looks in rotated orbit. If I extrude the bottom poly line it's extruding perpendicular to the plane. So it's coming out of the XY plane which should be flat. rajasekarcmr
Using LOFT command i somehow created an object but it's just an surface. I have to make it as solid.
rajasekarcmr
I surf patched both top & bottom openings it looks like but can't convert it to solid by CONVTOSOLID Edit: I used SURFSCULPT & now it's a water tight solid. Now MASSPROP works !! Yay !! Thanks for your help. Now I have to figure out how to do it to whole area. Kudos bro. I don't find any kudos button here.
