road runner Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Just getting my head round Autocad 2014. I’ve been playing round with different things. One is Dynamic Input. For some reason when I draw a line or do an angle, all I get is the dotted line but with no line measurement and the same with the angle. I've looked in Options - Drafting Tab and all the boxes are ticked. Also had a look in the Drafting Tooltip Settings and it looks like the right boxes are ticked there to. I've done something wrong. But what? If anyone has got any input as to what the problem is, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Quote
ReMark Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Dynamic Input Dynamic input provides a command interface near the cursor in the drawing area. Is it possible you only thought you enabled it but didn't? Quote
MSasu Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 May want to call the DSETTINGS command and check the Dynamic Input tab, too. Quote
Dana W Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I think object snap tracking, and polar traccking will also help the OP in seeing angles and lengths as they move, rotate, or stretch something. Quote
Dadgad Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Go into both of the SETTINGS menus below the dynamic input options, as shown in the image. There are quite a few different ways to set them up. Quote
road runner Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 Thanks guys. I've looked at all the boxes and they all look ok but as yet no numbers. I'm getting tool tips and thats all. Can I turn it back to default and start again? Quote

Can I turn it back to default and start again? What shows depends on what type of command you have active, and even if you do have a command active, and whether you have selected anything, and whether you have clicked on a grip to move or change something. Do you have a tracking option turned on? The tracking function and display will be a lot simpler and less functional if you have Ortho turned on. Also, see the Polar tracking tab on the dialog posted by Dadgad? Go to that tab, and turn polar tracking on. That is what gets you a more advanced angle display. Edited March 22, 2014 by Dana W Quote

Can I turn it back to default and start again?See that pointer input Settings button. Click that and tell the program when and what you want to see. You can display a dimension input field for more things than you want to see, all at the same time, and just get overwhelmed. Quote
road runner Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Thanks guys I'm up and running. It was to do with the Polar Tracking in the Drafting Settings box. Thank's again. Quote
