grain Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Hi, I wondered if anyone new of a 'Bank' of sample drawings. I specifically am wanting to study some good examples of housing plumbing drawings. Quote
ReMark Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Examples of different types of drawings can be found in numerous places. You just have to expend a little time and energy to find them. Sometimes a forum member will be kind enough to share examples of his or her own work too. Just have to wait and see. Quote
grain Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 I just came across a website called BiblioCAD which seems to be a bank of drawings with a free download membership level. I did find some alarming naming files asking permission like megabrowse when downloading so pulled out. Does anyone know of this site and how safe it is? Quote
ReMark Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I too looked at it in the past but decided to pass it up. You can try this one...http://www.cadforum.cz/cadforum_en/default.asp Look in the CAD Blocks section. I probably shouldn't tell you about this one....http://www.andysbestcad.com/plumbing.htm No drawings to download but there are pdf and dwf files available. That's it from me. You'll have the find the rest on your own. I can't share all my secrets with you because then you would know everything I know and that just wouldn't be good. Your brain my explode. LoL Quote
grain Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 Thanks Remark Design analysis is one of the best ways to raise your standards. (Its not copying) Quote
Dana W Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Thanks Remark Design analysis is one of the best ways to raise your standards. (Its not copying) That's true. After all, every time one sees a movie, it is usually a rehash of one of Shakespeare's stories, and sometimes they are improved upon. Quote
grain Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 I just thought Remark, I can't believe a person who has made 37000+ posts is afraid of sharing knowledge. Quote
ReMark Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 You are to be forgiven. Like many young forum members you have mistakenly assumed that was my post count when in fact it is my age listed in days. Too much knowledge is a dangerous thing. Sorry, but I do not share all my secrets. Most...but not all. If I thought you were not smart enough to find the information on your own then I would make an exception. I'm wagering however that you are smart enough. Are you saying I have misjudged your mental capacity to ferret out such information? I certainly hope not. Quote
grain Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 Thanks anyway for what you do give away. Quote
ReMark Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I always keep a couple of websites in abeyance for those special occasions when someone claims to have "looked everywhere" and has still come up "empty handed". That's when I show them the one site they just happened to have missed. Other than post here inquiring about a "drawing bank" what else have you done to find what you are looking for? Not all information is going to be on the Internet. Have you visited your local library and looked at any books? Have you gone down to your local building department and asked to look at some of the drawings they have on file? Have you considered taking a class? If you weren't across the pond here is one I would recommend...http://campusce.monroecc.edu/monroecc/course/course.aspx?C=298&pc=11&mc=&sc= Here is a link to a book I would recommend buying...http://nccer.pearsonconstructionbooks.com/store/product.aspx?isbn=0131600419 Quote
grain Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 Our local library has just closed down permanently. (Due to the free flow of information online) It sometimes feels inhibiting when seniors sitting on large knowledge basis on forums tell you to go to college. Though that would be ideal. Quote
ReMark Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) I got the same advice. I followed it too but it took me seven years to see the wisdom in it. I give plenty of stuff away every day. You just didn't happen to ask the right question today. Don't take it personally. I think you are smarter than you give yourself credit for. OK....here's one more link for you. http://www.autocaddetails.net/cad_directory/commercial_pdf/HTRW/Plumbing%20Fixtures/Plumbing_Fixtures.htm I'm feeling generous. This link will take you to the AutoCAD MEP website. There are two threads with files you might be interested in. Note that the drawings are for commercial buildings but they still may be worth a look. One thread contains a DWF file and the other a ZIP file. http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-MEP-General/Plumbing-drawings-for-commercial-buildings/td-p/2619490 Edited March 20, 2014 by ReMark Quote
