Trouble with Regions

I just can not get the knack to make a Subtract Region or a Union Region.

I am sure it is User Error.

Can someone, talk me through this.

Hi Netman, first things first.

All of those 4 objects ARE regions, right?

 

If they are, and you read and follow the commandline prompts, should be a no brainer.

The one reason which I can see why it might not be working is that the elevations all need to be coplanar

in order for either of those commands to work with regions.

 

Type CHANGE at the commandline, enter,

select all of the items with a crossing window, enter,

type P for properties, enter,

type E for elevations, enter,

0 (zero for an elevation), enter enter (meaning hit enter twice).

 

now try it again, and I suspect that as they are now coplanar you should be back in business.

Netman, seems that you were using AutoCAD LT, so I'm not sure that said commands were available in this version.

As Dadgad says so long as they are regions and coplanar, then it works, for union just type the command and at the prompt select both the rectangle and the circle and press enter, for subtraction start the command, select the rectangle and press enter then select the circle and press enter. If it doesn't work then there are issues with your geometry and posting a dwg would be your next step.

Thank you all. I went to DRAW and followed the command prompts...it worked perfectly. I was trying to use the icon in MODIFY and it was just not doing.
