Hey,

I've got a drawing that I am creating breaklines in to create a surface. I imported the points as a text file in a new drawing and have been working at it from there. Right now there are approximately 240 layers appearing in my layer manager and I don't know what they belong to. If I isolate those layers, every one of my points just dissapears.

What are these layers ex. C-ROAD-LINK-TEXT? and how did they get in the drawing? also how can I delete these to have just my own layers?

Thanks

Some drawing somewhere has to be the source of the layers. Maybe the layer data came with the points.

You could do something like SELECT ALL and then change everything to one of your layers. After that you can purge all those layers then import all of your own layers. It would take a while to change everything back to the layer you want though.

Select Layers

Click the Purge button.

Select Purge All.

Civil3D creates layers when you import points/create breaklines, surfaces, etc based on your command settings and the styles, both objects and labels. For example look at the command settings for create points in my attached image. You need to look at each command you are using to create the points/breaklines and surfaces to see what layers are being used.

Either start from scratch to create your template, search out and correct the layer, or use LayMrg and merge the unwanted layer with a layer you actually want to use; this way, you all defaults will use your desired layer, and you won't have broken any c3d styles.

Civ3d 2013 + has a purge styles command its under the Ribbon "Manage" "Purge Styles" this will remove unuse styles, like wise you can import.
