boxel0 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Can you with Revit, attach external references to components (like a hyperlink to a document)? Hope this is clear enough Quote
tzframpton Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Out of the box, no. It'll have to be by extension only (that I know of). BIM Project Suite Premium gives you Excel linking abilities: http://www.cadtechnologycenter.com/products/revit-expresstools/bim-project-suite-overview.html I thought that Kiwi Codes did it also, but after looking at their website I can't find it - guess that's a no. *EDIT* After re-reading your post, I don't think my original response was even close to what you were asking. I think you're referring to a Hyperlink to click and open any external document. Again, I don't think so unless it's with an extension. Let me ask my co-worker (our Revit BIM Manager, two hours behind my schedule since he's in Cali and I'm in TX) when he gets in and I'll respond. Quote
tzframpton Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Okay, good news. You can reference any document location. I just tested it with an Excel File and it opened right up. So, in your Family, create an Instance Parameter, name it accordingly, and set the Discipline to Common, Type of Parameter to URL. Then in the value text box, type in the Windows Explorer location and/or the file name and extension. When I loaded it into the project, I selected the Family and clicked the Family Browse button in Properties and it opens the document right up. Hope this helps. Quote
