marlon Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Take a look at this. The upper one is 'alternative unit' set to NO, the lower one is set to 'YES'. AutoCAD assumes 254 is in inches, because 254in x 25.4mm = 6,451.60mm (The alternative unit is the metric system) Is there anyway to reverse it? that is, to draw in the metric system so that the alternative unit becomes the English system. e.g. 10 inches equals 254mm Thanks guys! dbroada Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 you can set all this up in your .dwt file. if you want a metric drawing use the acadiso.dwt as your base rather than acad.dwt as there are several items, such as linetypes that have different definitions. Quote
nocturne00 Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Try to setup your dimstyle, under PRIMARY UNITS>Linear Dimensions>Unit Format>decimal. Your unit scaling must be in metric also, so you must set it up to INSUNITS=6 before toggling the dimension setup. save all this to the template you are using Quote
Dipali Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 check default units of your drawing. you can see it under format>units it should be set to 'decimal' than set alternate units in dimension style to 'architectural' Quote
marlon Posted November 29, 2008 Author Posted November 29, 2008 In the MODIFY DIMENSION STYLE, under the Primary Units, maintain the scale factor at 1.0000 Under Alternate Units, check the 'Display Alternate Units', then type 0.03937 in the 'Multiplier for alt units'. 1mm = 0.03937in The alternate unit is now the English system. (I'm using CAD2002) Thanks for your time guys! Quote
