jkristia Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I'm playing with dynamic blocks and I followed an example in Mastering AotuCAD creating a door with stretch and flip with no problems. Now I want to add a rotate action so I can open / close the door. Rotating the door works fine, but how can I get the 'swing arc' to follow the door?. I would like the arc to end where the door is. Including the arc in the rotate objects doesn't work as it (of course) just rotates the arc instead of changing then ending angle. Any suggestions ? Quote
jkristia Posted November 28, 2008 Author Posted November 28, 2008 >> Havent tried this yet but will do later but try to give the arc a stretch action. I did attempt that but I can't assign a stretch action to a rotate parameter. Quote
nocturne00 Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 yea just tried it and it dont work so i deleted my post ill have a look into this further. but i wont promise ill get a solution coz this is a tough one Quote
mugshot Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 i have inserted the thing you need, do these drawing help you? Quote
mugshot Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 if it doesn't satisfied you.. try to insert your file and we'll try to modify it okay. Quote
dbroada Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I can't wait to get to work to check mugshot's solution - we have discussed this several times here and so far nobody has been able to do it. Quote
nocturne00 Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 alas i give up on this one; I got close using a Polar Parameter + Polar stretch action, problem is the arc wont stretch,,, it just moves with the action point. I was also thinking of wipeout instead to hide the arc while the door swings but i think that would be cheating I hope someone could get this. Quote
mugshot Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 is it the arc is the main problem? if you stretch the door, so as the arc, isnt it? i think i've figured it out.... Quote
nocturne00 Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 yes the arc is the problem. you could rotate the door leaf to any position, the problem is the arc will not stretch normally along with the door leaf. Quote

Go ahead with the wipeout - I haven't got it to work yet! Quote
mugshot Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 now it does...... the problem on what they did is the order of parameter and parameter set.... Quote
nocturne00 Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Here's a try with the wipeout thing, but i wouldnt really recommend it, its a bit ..... unnatural  . but at least I learned something out of this, i didnt know that wipeouts dont work on objects with arcs(bummer) problems perhaps on this one will have to be on draw order for the wipeout. 00.dwgFetching info... mugshot Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 :shock:i guess i didn't read the mid part of the question... Quote
jkristia Posted November 28, 2008 Author Posted November 28, 2008 thanks, the wipeout solution provided by nocturne works, not sure it is the most elegant solution, but at least it works. I hoped there was some 'EditAction' I had missed where you could hook up a EndAngle property of an arc to the diff of the rotation angle - or something, but I guess not. Anyway, thanks everybody.
