cpriedel Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Hi guys, We have AutoCAD 2014 and 2012 currently in our office. We have a civil file that works perfectly fine with 2014 (we usually save all files down to 2010 so all our consultants can use them). When we open it in 2012 the object enabler does not seem to work only showing empty boxes with AceeLand90 text in the lower left hand corner. The civil object enabler on 2012 is up to date and the drawing was saved down to 2010. Not sure what I am missing and why it doesn't wort to have the Acee Entities shown in 2012. What am I missing? SLW210 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Sounds like you need to -EXPORTTOAUTOCAD (use the hyphen in front). I think you mean AeccLand90 and that would be because later formats like 2013 and 2014 cannot save down Aec objects to previous formats. Did you get a warning when you saved down? Quote
Tyke Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 When you save a Civil 3D file down to a lower version you loose all the functionality of the C3D objects. To preserve them and see them via the object enabler in AutoCAD you have to do like SLW210 said and use the command -EXPORTTOAUTOCAD. If you want to save down to a lower version of Civil 3D try using Export to Land XML format and in the lower version use Import Land XML. I was at a Civil 3D User Group meeting this morning and a few guys there reported doing that successfully, but I've never tried it myself except for Exporting to Land XML for an Engineer using Bentley InRoads and that worked very well over several years. cpriedel Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 Thanks guys. Yes I mean AeccLand90. I tried the -EXPORTTOAUTOCAD and saved it to the 2010 version. And it seemed to work fine. We are working in Plan view 2D so it is ok to lose the 3d component. When I reloaded the file in Autocad 2012 it still showed the Entities as boxes. We only have Autocad so I can not try importing it to Land XML. Quote
Tyke Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Have you you tried -EXPORTTOAUTOCAD down to 2012 and opened that in 2012? are the entities still shown as boxes? Quote
Tyke Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 What value is your PROXYGRAPHICS variable set to in your 2012? See this description from Express Tools - System Variables: Quote
cpriedel Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 Alright I checked the Proxygraphics and they were set to 1, but I just did the -EXPORTTOAUTOCAD again and saved it as a different name. I guess that makes all the difference. Thank you guys. Awesome forum HAPPY HUMP DAY Quote
