YYWinnie Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Hi, I am currently encountering problem regarding the inch dimension as shown below is a line in 300mm, after i the units and modify the primary units, it turned into 25' instead of 1' _" (1feet ____inch) can anyone tell me how to solve it? Dadgad Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Welcome to CADTutor. I would suggest that you use the -dwgunits (include the hyphen) command, as it will walk you through about half a dozen steps to get it sorted. Quote
YYWinnie Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Thanks Dadgad, but it seems like nothing changes > Quote
eldon Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 As you have drawn initially in metric units and wish to convert that to imperial units, you have to put the scale factor into the dimension. I drew this by setting up another dimension style with the correct scale factor. Quote
mdbdesign Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 You can use alternate dimension to show both mm and imperial units. BTW: 300" = 25' Quote
eldon Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 BTW: 300" = 25' How right you are - but the OP did say 300mm which is 11.81" (or there abouts), which when rounded to the nearest inch would be 1'-0" Quote
mdbdesign Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Assume, you changing units, so 300mm become 300" (inch) which is 25'. Rounding to nearest inch sound like a trouble. My opinion is: use alternate dimension or scale all dwg to inch and change dimensions unit. (not really sure about intention of OP.) Quote
ReMark Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 In the future consider using the template acad.dwt when drawing in imperial units and acadiso.dwt when drawing in metric units. It will save you some headaches. Can't handle that? Then use Dimstyle > Alternate Units tab and check off the box for displaying alternate units. Just set it up to suit your needs. Quote
YYWinnie Posted November 6, 2013 Author Posted November 6, 2013 Thanks everyone > Tried all of it and only 1 ways to correct it, but still isn't in a very precise dimension, there's a diff around 100mm when converted to inch, but i think that will do =) 1. i place the scale factor as 0.03939 Thanks for the help everyone ^^ Quote
Dadgad Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) It is a pity you didn't use 0.0393700787401575, then your dimensions would be accurate. Edited November 6, 2013 by Dadgad Quote

eldon Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Just in case you can't remember all those figures at a crucial time, I use the reciprocal of 25.4, which is exact, and fewer digits to recall Quote
