Brucewoodrem Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I am trying to create a furry creature to export as FBX to be used as a game character in Unity3D: as most, or all, of the modifiers will not export with FBX how can I get my game character, in the game environment to look similar to the object in 3DS Max? Thank you!! Quote
Cad64 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Can you post a screenshot or render of what he looks like in Max? I assume you used the hair and fur modifier to make him furry? Here's an explanation of how the hair was done on a Gears Of War character: http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/CreatingHairUsingAlpha.html Quote
Brucewoodrem Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Thank you CAD64- if I am understanding correctly, this is similar to the billboard concept in the Unity3d game engine? Quote
Cad64 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I'm not really familiar with Unity3d but I am familiar with the billboard concept, so yes, instead of using actual strands of hair to create the fur on your character, which can't be exported or used in a game engine because of the complexity and incredibly high poly counts involved, you would use simple, single poly, flat planes with fur images mapped to them.
