3DS Max Export Question

I am trying to create a furry creature to export as FBX to be used as a game character in Unity3D:

as most, or all, of the modifiers will not export with FBX how can I get my game character, in the game environment to look similar to the object in 3DS Max?

Thank you CAD64- if I am understanding correctly, this is similar to the billboard concept in the Unity3d game engine?

I'm not really familiar with Unity3d but I am familiar with the billboard concept, so yes, instead of using actual strands of hair to create the fur on your character, which can't be exported or used in a game engine because of the complexity and incredibly high poly counts involved, you would use simple, single poly, flat planes with fur images mapped to them.
