Jumbled Annotative Text Fonts

Recommended Posts

Hello, relatively new user to AutoCad (Architecture 2014 on Windows 7). We have several similar installation in our office, but I am the only one with this problem. All of the annotative text on drawings is unreadable because it is jumbled - in this case Helvetica. We have upgraded clean install from AutoCad 2010 to 2014 - no help. We reinstalled all of the fonts in both the system and AudtoCad (TrueType and SHX files) - no help. Changing size or scale - no help. I have not seen this specific issue before and don't have font issues in any other program.

Does anyone have any suggestions to help? See attached image - typical of all text on drawing, even within blocks.

Thanks you for any help you can provide.

Can you attach a sample drawing with some of the affected text.

Hi Nesty,

FYI - today is also my first day on the forum so had to find the option. I attached a zip file of a simple floor plan with the issue. If anyone else in our office opens the same file on the the network on their machine, they do not get the problem.

Thanks,

Jeannot

I'm using AutoCAD2014 at the momment (not ACA) and I don't see the distorted text, however I also don't have Helvetica font installed, so AutoCAD is automatically substituting another font.

Autodesk Knowledge Base --> AutoCAD Substitute Fonts

Can you confirm whether the other users in your office have Helvetica, and even if they do, perhaps it's still being substituted on their machines via AutoCAD's substitute font file. (If Helvetica is referenced in their acad.fmp file, then it's likely not actually being used)

Hi Nestly,

Unfortunately, they have the same fonts and the same alternates/fmp paths that I do. Also on my machine, Autocad is not displaying that the font is missing (no warning icon) in the text styles dialogue box.
