Tuns Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 The standard in the industry I work in is the radius dimension goes on the inside of the arc. However, AutoCAD defaults the dimension to the outside of the arc. Is there a way to make it default to the inside? If not then this is the issue when I use the mirror command. That arc appears and I cannot get rid of it. Quote
steven-g Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Could you post an example with a few arcs, just to check your dim style settings. When I dim an arc the placing of the dimension is dependent on which side of the arc my mouse is at the time (so it can be inside or outside) and if I wish to change it later I just drag the dimension to the other side, there should be no need to mirror it> Quote
ReMark Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Using AutoCAD 2013 I can move the radius to either side of the arc and AutoCAD reorients the leader to suit. Quote

Pick New and at the bottom of that dialog pick the down arrow and select Radius Dims from the drop down list. Modify the radial style by suppressing extension line 1, set DIMTMOVE to 1, set DIMATFIT to 1. Make those changes in the dim manager and not at the command line. Quote
Tuns Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 There you go Steven. It's just the standard radius dimension we use. Quote
Barneel Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Maybe I misunderstood, is this what you are trying to do? Quote
Tuns Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 No you didn't. I can't figure out how to move it to the inside. Oh... Okay I got it now... I'm so stupid. Quote
Barneel Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Can you use the hover grip option "move with Dim Line"? Quote
Tuns Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 Yeah, I'm still new to AutoCAD so I didn't know you could actually just flip it over like that. Quote
steven-g Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 You can use the grips on various dimensions, it can be quite useful sometimes. Quote
