Hello,

I would like to know how can put planar surface to solid object which surface is curved like cylinder for example. When start draw from first point rectangle of planar surface follow x cordinate not that solid object.

Please how to do that simply?

Thanks everyone

Sounds like you want to change your UCS.

Can you post example file and/or url to give an idea of your design intent?

I am confused by your title and problem description - they seem to be two different things (fillet and cylinder).

I filleted the edge so much that become curved like cylinder and would like to place surface on that (curved) position. Finnaly surface must be curved- sticked on fillet edge.

I made it with imprint command but can't extrude red surface because become one solid, how to extrude or pull this without exploding whole model?

many many thanks.

I appreciate your patience

Are you trying to do an Emboss or Deboss? More information is needed.

If so, simply extrude an arc as a surface and then Thicken.

Emboss-Deboss.pngBTW - all of this is so much easier in Inventor.

Hm but autocad doesn't have emboss command. How can I do that with AC?

First of all, you need to state your problem description.

Now that I know I did guess what you really really wanted (emboss)

Forget about Imprint, that is for flush faces.

Draw an arc offset from the distance of your cylindrical face.

Extrude as a surface.

Thicken the surface back towards the solid by the offset distance (or more).

Union.

Post back if you can't figure it out.

please explain how to draw an arc offset from cylindrical face. Firstly, the big problem is that I couldn't draw rectangle sticked on cylindrical face because UCS is not curved so my draw is flat with xy axis. With imprint I got rectangle sticked to face but I don't have idea to make surface and extrude. only way is to explode all model but I won't to do that.

sorry for my explanations if are difficult to understand.

just explain how you did that on pic below.

Now I'm all confused about what you really really want.

That was done with the solidedit Imprint and Color Faces commands.

Do you want the end result to be flush (like the 8-ball example) or raised (like the emboss example)?

For whatever it is worth - this is what I meant by creating an arc - create an arc.

arc.PNG Then Extrude creates a surface (because the arc is open) and then Thicken creates a solid from the extruded surface.

I finnaly finished drawing on this way:

imprint solid object

draw spline on the imprint line

extrude spline to make surface

delete solid

thick surface

and that's it

what do you think?

I think you are doing way too much work.

I will post easy way later today.
