PotGuy Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Could try _mtedit. Have you restarted your AutoCAD; can be a fix as it's a finicky program at times. Quote
designdrives Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 Thanks! _mtedit works! but is there anyway by just clicking on the line of text i can immediately do my editing and the annoying MText bar will not appear??? also i use to be able to "right" click on my mouse, commands like copy, paste, etc will appear. no response now..... will try save and restart the system now... PotGuy Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Double clicking is in fact the same command as a shortcut! (_mtedit) Restart seems logical course and we'll go from there. *EDIT* Personally I work with AutoCAD classic layout, as it suits my style of 'Everything must have it's clearly defined place' workspace! It also means I get a separate tab that appears next to the text I'm working with, though I'm not sure LT supports it as It goes AutoCAD Classic, Drafting and Annotation (Ribbon toolbar), 3D Basic and Modelling. (See bottom right, where tooltip is showing) Quote
Fire_col Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 After restart also make sure that you go in to the option (command: op) dialogue and reset your mouse button options. Edit: See attached... Quote
PotGuy Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Good shout Fire_col. Didn't think there would be an option to enable or disable a function like that. Quote

PotGuy Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Check your options and go to the tab Fire_col is on and ensure the area he's highlighted is on. After restart also make sure that you go in to the option (command: op) dialogue and reset your mouse button options. Edit: See attached... Quote

PotGuy Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Is double click enabled? Did you check your options? If so, then I'll look into it, but I'm a little stumped. In the mean time, _mtedit will suffice as a workaround but I understand it isn't what you're after. Is it worth contacting your IT department for any help, or another CAD user within your company? designdrives Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 text still cannot edit straight away..... Quote

PotGuy Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Surely this is why IT is used in your company though...? Are you the only user in your group using LT? Are you a full time employee? If so, it may be worth trying to get full AutoCAD if appropriate. I may be wrong on this front so I'll wait to see what others users think of this idea. Quote
Dadgad Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 If you have enabled double click editing as Fire-col suggested, then you probably need to set your MTEXTTOOLBAR variable, as explained in the image. Quote

Fire_col Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Question - What's the command code needed to reach system variables? Yeah I want to know that too . Quote
RobDraw Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 That option and more can be found by right clicking in the text area once you have the editor open and selecting "Editor Settings". The toolbar can also be turned off from the ribbon while in the text editor. Go to the highlighted "Text Editor" tab, then to the Options panel and click "More", then editor settings. Quote
neophoible Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 SYSVDLG = system variable dialogThis is from Express Tools: ExpressTools|Tools|System Variable Editor --it's almost the same whether via the Menubar or Ribbon. Quote
