Could try _mtedit. Have you restarted your AutoCAD; can be a fix as it's a finicky program at times.

Thanks! _mtedit works! but is there anyway by just clicking on the line of text i can immediately do my editing and the annoying MText bar will not appear??? also i use to be able to "right" click on my mouse, commands like copy, paste, etc will appear. no response now..... will try save and restart the system now...

Double clicking is in fact the same command as a shortcut! (_mtedit)

Restart seems logical course and we'll go from there.

*EDIT* Personally I work with AutoCAD classic layout, as it suits my style of 'Everything must have it's clearly defined place' workspace! It also means I get a separate tab that appears next to the text I'm working with, though I'm not sure LT supports it as It goes AutoCAD Classic, Drafting and Annotation (Ribbon toolbar), 3D Basic and Modelling. (See bottom right, where tooltip is showing)

After restart also make sure that you go in to the option (command: op) dialogue and reset your mouse button options.

Edit: See attached...

Good shout Fire_col.

Didn't think there would be an option to enable or disable a function like that.

double clicking the annoying MText bar will appear... used to be able to edit straight from there (on the text itself). no have to type in _mtedit...

Check your options and go to the tab Fire_col is on and ensure the area he's highlighted is on.

i checked... no mouse option to call out edit table.... any idea?

Is double click enabled? Did you check your options?

If so, then I'll look into it, but I'm a little stumped. In the mean time, _mtedit will suffice as a workaround but I understand it isn't what you're after.

Is it worth contacting your IT department for any help, or another CAD user within your company?

text still cannot edit straight away.....

yes, enabled... no currently i'm the only person using...sigh...

Surely this is why IT is used in your company though...?

Are you the only user in your group using LT?

Are you a full time employee?

If so, it may be worth trying to get full AutoCAD if appropriate. I may be wrong on this front so I'll wait to see what others users think of this idea.

If you have enabled double click editing as Fire-col suggested,

then you probably need to set your MTEXTTOOLBAR variable, as

explained in the image.

Question - What's the command code needed to reach system variables?

Yeah I want to know that too :P.

That option and more can be found by right clicking in the text area once you have the editor open and selecting "Editor Settings".

The toolbar can also be turned off from the ribbon while in the text editor. Go to the highlighted "Text Editor" tab, then to the Options panel and click "More", then editor settings.

SYSVDLG = system variable dialog
This is from Express Tools: ExpressTools|Tools|System Variable Editor --it's almost the same whether via the Menubar or Ribbon.
