Hi everyone, I've run into a problem I can't seem to find a fix for. ( AutoCAD 2010 Arch suite )

Problem: When doing a series of rapid mouse clicks, Autocad does not always register the clicks. For example, I'll use move, and when clicking on a line to move, it wont' see that I clicked on the line. I also notice that my crop box does not always work to select objects when i'm going fast. some times it does not show, others is goes to random points on the screen while still selecting the areas i've clicked in.

I've only noticed this problem when I'm in "the zone" and am clicking very fast, when I go slow, it picks up the clicks. its very frusterating knowing that I can't work as fast as I can without having the click input issue. I mostly notice this problem with commands like, erase, trim, move, and extend.

I do have my system set up for right mouse click as 'enter' via the autocad options, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I've yet to find a solution to this problem, but here is what I know.

- It is not the computer system ( I recently got an upgrade at the office )

- Its not my mouse. I've tried several mice, and at home, in games and such, I don't get the fast click issue.

- I've changed the double click speed in the control panel when opeing folders, as I read that helps but no luck.

- its not an OS issue, happens in both XP and Win7, and shouln't be a computer hardware issue, considering I just jumped from a P4 to a new Haswell system.

- I don't know if it happens on other versions of autocad

Any help, ideas, tips, etc is welcome.

Welcome to CADTutor. :)

Have you tried adjusting the RIGHT CLICK DURATION?

In your time-sensitive right click dialog?

Do you have selection preview on? Do you have a dedicated or onboard video card?

I've changed the right click duration from the default 250ms to 500, and I'll see if I can get a video uploaded somehow.

As far as GPU, I have a gtx 620 i think, its a crap card, but I don't think the issue is GPU related. ( happens even in a new drawing with nothing drawn in it )

edit: though on my home machine, I have a gtx 670, watercooled and highly overclocked, so maybe the preview selection is way more GPU demanding than I thought.

edit: I diabled the selection preview, and I think that might have solved the problem. I've tested it out clicking around as fast as I could, and so far it kept up, so I have about 2 hours of work left and i'll update once I can confirm thats what causing the problem.

I have one of those gaming mechanical keypads ( razor orbweaver ) that with custom comand alais means I can punch in commands crazy fast, and am easily the fastest drafter in a 40 person office just because everyone else punches in each command, and with my system I have to push no more than a single button 3 times to get to any of the 40 or so commands I have programed to the device, that with a mouse that has 12 buttons on it ( razor naga ) I never have to touch my keyboard unless i'm writing an email.

Well, I thought it had solved the problem. it seemed to have worked for a bit but then when I started getting into some heavy work it started to happen again.

Very good idea Rob, disabling selection preview, I should think that would help a lot!

You might also play around a bit in the ADVANCED options for SELECTION PREVIEW, as shown in the image,

on the SELECTION tab in OPTIONS.

I guess if you have turned off SELECTION PREVIEW it won't help,

and I am guessing you have turned off, or should your PROPERTY PREVIEW too?

My rig's an unaltered GeForce 670, i5 Quad core and 8Gb of Ram. Scary thing is work rig is faster!
