I have drag-and-dropped a door onto a new layer of my drawing (units = mm).

The blue lines are the hinge corner of the door.

I can't find a way to bring it down to a manageable size. Block Editor doesn't indicate any constraints, I just can't find a control which will reduce this thing's size.

Select the door block and open the Properties Palette. If X, Y, & Z scales are not 1, then insert units probably do not match your UNITS. Type UNITS at the command line, and adjust the Insertion Scale. After closing the UNITS dialog box, drag another door into your drawing from Design Center.

Thanks nestly.

Here are the properties I get for the Door.

The command UNITS at the command line gets me nothing which I see as adjusting the Insertion Scale which is Millimeters.

Which of the properties shown do I have to adjust, and how do I adjust them?

1) It does not appear you have anything selected, so the Properties palette is displaying the current settings for the drawing.

2) Have a look at this to see the difference Insertion Scale has when inserting the same block.

Wow! You move a bit too fast for me!

You bring up dialogs on the screen that I cannot identify. I don't know what they are or where you got them.

What, for example, is this, and how do I get to it?

I have similar questions for the other dialogs you use. Would you please be a little more specific.

Thanks

Sorry about that.

Design Center Palette (DC from the Command line) was used to access the sample blocks included with AutoCAD. The sample blocks/drawings are located at

C:/Program Files/Autodesk/AutoCADxxxx/Sample/DesignCenter

The small dialog box was the drawing UNITS dialog box.

Thanks for the second video - I follow that okay. It seems, however, that the real trick was in the first video.

What is THIS dialog, and how do I get to it? It is resetting X, Y, and Z that fixes the problem.

That is the Properties Palette. You can access it by these methods, among others.

1) CTRL + 1

2) PR at the Command line

3) Select an object and Right-Click, then select "Properties" from the menu

4) Click the downward facing arrow on the bottom right of the Ribbon Properties panel.

Some success!:D

I can get a door into my workshop by dragging the door from Tool Palettes and then going Format --> Units --> Meters then dragging in to one I want to use - as you show in your first video.

The only catch is that I can only have set sizes. Still 0.8m is one of them and is standard door size.

*** I just have to remember to set Units back to Millimeters when I want to draw anything else. ***

It does work, but it seems a bit Mickey Mouse (no offence to Mr Disney intended).

What do I have wrong here?
