Organic Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 I was experimenting with using multileaders today and changing their styles. What I can't work out is how do I change the colour of the background mask? All I could do was turn on and off the 'background', not change the colour of it. Surely this must be possible? Quote
SLW210 Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 AFAIK you need to use the Text Editor>Options>Background Mask, just double-click the text portion. Quote
nestly Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 ... or if using the Ribbon, the Contextual Ribbon State (double-click) for MText has a "Background mask" button which pops up the same dialog box as the last image in SLW210's post. Quote
mikekmx Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 is there a way to change the default background colour? 2006 mine was white, now in 2008 default is red (?????? wtf) and white isn't even listed....i have to do 4 or 5 clicks and choose 255,255,255, by which time i have lost the will to live Quote
mikekmx Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 ............or go to the properties pane and there's a field for backgroung mask off/on. slecting on brings up the box that SLW120's post shows^ Quote
Organic Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 Thanks. I was only looking in the Properties pane as that it where you can normally modify it for normal mtext. I don't normally use the text editor much or the ribbon at all. On a somewhat related question, how can I change the default size of a background mask from 1.5 to something else (e.g. 1.1)? I can't find a way to do it automatically natively (i.e. without me manually going in and changing it on every new text item) although if anyone knows of a lisp that forces it upon statrtup/opening a drawing that would be handy to know of. You can change the background mask settings globally for both MLeaders & MText using my Background Mask program; however, to my knowledge the default values for the background mask settings are not exposed or accessible. My question is "How is it that you aren't employed by Autodesk?" I can only imagine how much better AutoCAD would be. Quote

Be very careful here, nestly. We get tons of free stuff from Lee right now. If ADesk hired him, we'd probably not only end up with no more free Lee, but he'd probably be given a Dilbert job, you know, removing valuable features from the product! http://www.dilbert.com/strips/2013-03-03/ Quote
nestly Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 True, it's easier to be innovative when not confined by a corporate box. Still seems a shame that only a relative few are exposed to great tools. LeeMac, did you ever consider rolling some of your most popular tools into a package and publishing on Autodesk Exchange as a plugin/app? Quote

LeeMac, did you ever consider rolling some of your most popular tools into a package and publishing on Autodesk Exchange as a plugin/app? I had considered publishing some of my more popular programs to the Exchange, however, since I had already published a number of relatively large applications as freeware on my site before the Autodesk 'App Store' had been created, I felt that I could not then publish the same programs to the Exchange for any fee. Furthermore, I release all of the applications on my site as open-source, not only to benefit those looking to learn, but also to showcase my programming ability and technique to prospective employers and clients; and so, by posting my applications to the App Store, I would simply become another developer amongst the hundreds of other developers already contributing to the store.
