byk3bep Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I have modeled a house. It consists of a number of elements created on different layers with different colors. When I generate a section block it is only in one color, this makes it hard to distinguish different elements. Manually changing the colors of each line is out of the question. How can I generate a section witch keeps the colors of the elements defined by the color of the layer which they occupy? Hope it was clear Thx for all your time and help Quote
Dadgad Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Try making a copy of your section, and exploding it, I think that will get you your colors back. Quote
byk3bep Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 This did not give any result... I'm confused as far as the settings go in the generate section menu. The color/linetype, i tried changing them around, but seen no change = = = > confusion Can anyone post a pic showing how it should be set up to get the desired result? Thx a lot Quote
ReMark Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 What command are you using to generate this section? Quote
byk3bep Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 Hmmmmm, I'm using the generate section cmd, from the section tab, I did not realize there are more ways of generating sections. Here's a pic Quote
ReMark Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Ah...the SectionPlane command. Since I had no idea what you may be drawing I thought for a moment you could be using either Flatshot or ViewBase. Quote
byk3bep Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 Anywaaaaaay....... Do you have a solution, or a suggestion for my problem? Part of what I'm foing a section-plane is in the background. Quote
ReMark Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Dadgad's advice works. Just tested it myself. There's just one problem though...you end up with the base geometry and solid hatches. BTW...Flatshot does not give you a section option although it's possible to edit the 2D block one does get to give the appearance as such and in the process change the assigned colors. The block that is initially created can have a different color/linetype for the foreground lines and for the obscured (hidden) lines. ViewBase might work but you would have to export the block back into model space from paper space where it is placed by AutoCAD. I'm almost positive I have seen what you want to achieve but haven't done it myself. Or....I'm dreaming and never saw it done at all. Quote
