ReMark Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Try this. Save your drawing. Exit AutoCAD. Restart AutoCAD. Open drawing and start where you left off. Any mysterious tails? Quote
frost01uk Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 No they've all gone.... thank you so much you an absolute life saver... not sure wots going on there but so happy I could kiss you Quote
ReMark Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 "No Kissing Zone" You did see the sign ^ ^ ^ right? You are not the only person to have seen the mystery tails. Some users think it is a graphics related problem. All service packs installed? Quote
frost01uk Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 All service packs installed?? im on the education edition... does that matter? or sorry kiss withdraw... Quote
ReMark Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 What? You think that AutoDesk somehow managed to eliminate all bugs in the (free) educational version but left them in the one they charge for? LoL No way Jose! This is what you want. Read the Readme file first. Make sure to download the correct version (32-bit vs. 64-bit). http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=19500680&linkID=9240618 Quote
treHus1 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Frost, you're not the only one with this problem. I'm guessing they came back and you played the restart game a few times. I wanted to see if any one out there had this problem that knows the root and how it may be fixed. I have a Firepro V3900 card, 8 gb of ram, windows 7, 64 bit. I'm on AutoCAD 2014 LT. I get these lines after about an hour of use. When I turn off hardware acceleration, they go away, but it makes the cursor move in a choppy manner. REGEN, RGENALL, switching monitors, updating drivers... I've tried that all. And what may be related, I can't change the draworder on any of my lines, at least the way they display. I just started at a new company, and the machine is new, so I thought at first they had some type of layer display system in their files. Nope, its just my machine. DRAWORDER, right clicking - send to back. I've tried that all too. I'm hoping my problems are related so one answer is a cure all, but I'll take what I can get. Thanks Quote
SLW210 Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Do you have the latest driver for your card from Autodesk? Quote
treHus1 Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Thanks SLW210 for responding. I've been searching as much as I know how to find a solution. Yes, I've installed the driver from Autodesk. When that didn't work I did a more recent driver from AMD. I'm with you that its a software issue. If it was a card issue, more programs would have these funny lines or CAD would show them at a more consistent rate. When I have many files open, not all of them have the problem. They seem to turn on at random in random files. Files that have had the problem at one time, won't have it another time. Its hard to weed out the variables. Quote
nestly Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I would guess it's a software conflict with your video driver and some other driver. I don't have a solution, but perhaps these similar topics will help isolate the cause? http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-Inventor/Extra-lines-or-tails-on-everything/td-p/3266520 http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2013-2014-DWG-Format/Mystery-Lines/td-p/3748566/highlight/true http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2010-2011-2012-DWG/Graphic-problem/m-p/3206160/highlight/true#M7301 Quote
treHus1 Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Thanks nestly for those references. I've been looking at the autodesk forums as well but didn't know what to type when searching for a solution. With a little luck and a little time, one of these should put me on the right track. I appreciate it. Quote
PotGuy Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Any news treHus? Or are those lines still being a pain in the behind? Quote
treHus1 Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Any news treHus? I thought they were gone after uninstalling the driver then completely reinstalling. I had 4 or so hours of no lines, then they came back. Thanks for checking up on me though. If I get some time today I'll run through all of nestly's links. SLW210, I have tried various drivers, including the link on the Autodesk site, but have not checked out drivers that existed between the one that came installed and the one Autodesk links to. I think I tried everything after. I'll put this on the list of things to try. Thanks. Quote

Thanks After executing draworder, you have to do a regen to get the draw order to show on the screen. It happened, you just don't see it until your screen is refreshed. Draworder is one of those commands that does not automatically trigger a regen. Quote
treHus1 Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Dana W I like your pittie. Mine has the same floppy ears. I got the regen/draw order thing down, but my graphics card doesn't. Thanks Quote
