gotchy Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Will someone here please give me the exact step by step sequence for creating a Polar Array? I have no problem with Rectangular Array but for some reason I have no success with Polar. Please include what it should say in the command line in the sequence. I am looking to place 22 .1" circles around a 1.5" circle. I am using v2000 if it matters, however I can use v2007 if need be. Thank you in advance, gotchy Fred Ricci Dog Tag.dwg Quote
JD Mather Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Post screen shot of your Array dialog box with what you have entered. This command has changed a lot in the last couple of releases and unless someone invokes the legacy command you might get a response that is confusing. Quote
JD Mather Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Opened your file and I don't see Ø1.5 circle or Ø.1 circle to be arrayed? Quote
rkent Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I am using 2014 but this is the command line sequence, should be similar. Make sure you select the center of the 1.5" circle for the center of the array. Command: -ARRAY Select objects: 1 found Select objects: Enter the type of array [Rectangular/Polar] : p Specify center point of array or [base]: _CEN of Enter the number of items in the array: 22 Specify the angle to fill (+=ccw, -=cw) : Rotate arrayed objects? [Yes/No] : Quote
eldon Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 The command ARRAY merely copies an object, that is why it is in the Modify menu. With Rectangular array, the base for copying is the object itself, with offsets for the rows and columns. With Polar array, you have to mark the centre of rotation and draw the first object at the correct distance from this centre. Once you have done this then the dialogue box is simple to fill in. Quote
gotchy Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 Here is the screen shot and the Autocad file. Is my Command Line set up correctly, if it isn't, how do I correct it please? gotchy Index 22.dwg Quote
Dadgad Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 The instructions given in the previous posts seem to be right on the money, and pretty simple to follow. Your commandline looks fine. I just did a polar array without incident, as previously described, with the exception of defining the degrees by pulling on the array grip, as I was working from the commandline prompts instead of the dialog box. Worked like a charm. Just one question, can I get some extra pepperoni on mine? Quote
eldon Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 I would move the small circle to lie on the larger circle. Then array works. Quote
gotchy Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 Thank you Gentlemen. I was able to get v 2007 to work fine. Another reason to get me to upgrade I suppose. gotchy Quote
