SilverTiger Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Is there a way to type text outlines in autocad and then extrude it? Quote
GhostRider Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Not sure of exactly what you are after, maybe this might be something close. If you use a thick font like ARIALBLACK, that has thickenss, you can use the express tools feature "txtexp" to explode the text. Youll have to modify and join the output polylines and join them to be extruded... clear as mud? something like this Quote
papagyi Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Don't forget to use explode text with plan view! Quote
tobes_1983 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I would use SketchUp's 3d text tool and export it as a dwg - then bring it into your drawing. Saves a lot of ball ache! Quote
SilverTiger Posted November 29, 2008 Author Posted November 29, 2008 Thx guys. I did it the hard way before reading this post... I exported text from Illustrator to cad and extruded it... Quote
mjens2011 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Txtexp, then hatch, using select internal point. Hatch entire word/ sentence, paragraph, etc as desired at once, then edit hatch. Generate region from hatch. Extrude Region. Quicker than exploding/editing polylines. Quote
ReMark Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 What? No one makes a true 3D font for use with AutoCAD? Quote
