augeriu Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Hi everyone, I would like to know if it's possible to create an offset curve from another curve, but with an increasing distance, the result i want to achieve is shown in the picture. (the magenta line). Thank you very much! Quote
JD Mather Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 From your image it looks like you are trying to offset an ellipse and create the offest as a true ellipse. In Autodesk Inventor you can do this - there are two different offset options 1. offset uniform distance (like AutoCAD) 2. offset true mathematical ellipse Is Tip 34 in this document what you are after? http://home.pct.edu/~jmather/AU2006/MA13-3%20Mather.pdf If this is what you are after and you only have access to AutoCAD you will have to draw the 3 ellipse rather than offset. augeriu Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 thanks for your prompt reply JD. In fact that's not exactly what i need, what i need is a progressive offset from a curve to another, like in this image i attach, i cannot build it with an elipse because the increasing distance will not be regular, (i don't know if my explanation is good enough, i attach another picture to see the effect i want to achieve Quote
JD Mather Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 You will have to build the curves separately. Inventor also has a Equation Curve tool if you know the equations for these curves. Quote
