Mase123y Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Im trying to change my letter spacing in my style and I cant seem to figure out how to do it. The picture here is my Autocad 2012 on the left and on the right is what I get from another company. How can I change my style so the lettering is more spaced out like the one on the right? This is not just for the tolerance box. All my dimensions have a similar problem where the text is not spaced out. Such as if I make a dimension, it says "R.125" where there is no space between the "R" and ".125" Quote
ReMark Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) Could the other company be using a slightly different style of the same font? Edited March 5, 2013 by ReMark Quote
Mase123y Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Theres really nothing I can see in the text style format window that changes the spacing between letters. Quote
ReMark Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 The feature is called TRACKING. Decreases or increases the space between the selected characters. The 1.0 setting is normal spacing. Set to more than 1.0 to increase spacing, and set to less than 1.0 to decrease spacing. Quote
ReMark Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 This is where the spacing between letters can be tweaked. The default value in the circled box is "1". Here I have changed it to "2". Quote
Mase123y Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 From what I can tell thats only for Mtext and a general text editor. How can I apply this to dimensions without manually editing every single one? I also dont see a way to apply this to the tolerancing box since I dont think you can change that into text. Quote
ReMark Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I have no idea. I guess we're back to looking at the font or using an alternate text editor and importing the text back into AutoCAD. Quote
SLW210 Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 You didn't include an example of what you were trying to copy, as ReMark stated, it is most likely the Font. We had a discussion sometime previously on here about KERNING (also see difference between kerning and tracking and the link on tracking). Also, search for related problems with modifying the Standard Text Style. Quote
Mase123y Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 I have a picture in the first post and I loaded a test.dwg later on so Im not entirely sure what other examples you may need. Quote
SLW210 Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I have a picture in the first post and I loaded a test.dwg later on so Im not entirely sure what other examples you may need. The drawing only contains examples of what you have, not what you recieved from another company, that you want. Quote
Mase123y Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Oh, what I get from the other company is just drawings on paper or pdf files, I dont get actual dwg files I can look into. Quote
SLW210 Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 In that case, read the info I posted a link to and search around about fonts with more Kerning and/or Tracking. Mtext, as shown by ReMark, can be edited for tracking, but you will need to find (or Make) a suitable Font to use in your Text Style to adjust the Tolerance and Dimensions. Here is a thread at Autodesk on Kerning. Quote
