aslan_thr Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 (edited) hi, when i go to the open file menu in autocad 2012, and i click on the dwg file, there is a thumbnail picture in the small preview area, but when i click open, it brings up the error message : invalid file name. i have searched this from and i have tried recovery, importing it to another program, inserting it to new dwg, all with no avail ! so i attached the file, maybe some one could help me. thank you. Here it is : bath02.dwg Edited February 14, 2013 by aslan_thr Quote
ReMark Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I tried with AutoCAD and with DraftSight and neither were successful. If you had a drawing at one time it's no longer the case. Delete the file from your hard drive and start over. Quote

aslan_thr Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Was there a BAK file made at any point? yup, there is actually one, I renamed the .bak to .dwg and opened it, but it was empty, though the file size was 150 kb ! Quote
ReMark Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I think it is time to start the drawing over. I'd also review how this happened in the first place and try to prevent a repeat in the future. Quote
