Hello !

I am trying to plot a drawing, Visual style: wireframe, occluded edges: dashed.

The drawing has millimeters as the unit of measurement.

I have tried this (taken from a website some of you might be familiar with):

http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/archive/index.php/t-1960.html

but it does not work.

I set the ltscale as low as 0.01 but without result.

I tried printing from "model" and "Layout" (everything is set at Wireframe and dashed occluded edges).

If you have an idea, please tell me because I have finished the drawings and documentation and this is holding me back from printing and sending what I have done. Please write any solution that comes into mind, I will try it and write the feedback.

Thank you!

no solution yet so I used 'print screen' and rudimentary but efficient Paint trimming

Attach a copy of the drawing file to your next post. Someone here will take a look at it and post back. Maybe they'll do a test plot themselves.

that is a good idea, ReMark !

Here is a sample : I can see the dashed lines but I can not print them!

I got the dashed lines to plot here but I used a different method (VIEW BASE) to obtain the two views.

The solution you link to in another thread is for a 2D drawing. Your object is a 3D solid. The VSOBSCUREDEDGES variable is for a visual affect. I don't believe it will print that way however. I could be wrong though. I normally extract my 2D views, hidden lines and all, from my 3D models using the FLATSHOT or VIEW BASE command.

The VIEW BASE command will not be found in 2011 as it was introduced in 2012. You would have to use another method for extracting 2D views of 3D models. Options include:

1. Flatshot

2. SectionPlane

3. SolProf

4. SolDraw/SolView

ViewBase four views.jpg

This is what I see when I click on the Preview button in the Plot dialog box. It is also what I get when I print (except for the color of course).

These four 2D views are sitting over in my layout not in model space.

Thank you for your trouble, ReMark !

I will learn about those four topics you proposed .

Thank you very much !

In Visual Styles Manager for Wireframe, change Edge Settings from Isolines to Facet Edges.

it would be wonderful if, somehow, I could get the desired view from a solid in a quick manner because I have numerous drawings of complex shapes .

ReMark already told you how, VIEWBASE command. If using the Ribbon it should be on the Drafting and Annotation workspace, Layout tab, Create view section.

THIS IS IT! Thank you very much, rkent !

This problem has been a constant setback; with every drawing I had to print screen after screen and edit in paint with the result being acceptable but having the reserve that it could have been done better. Now I can do it properly, as good as it gets.

Thank you again, rkent !

You are wonderful people for taking your time and helping others and,

by the number of topics I read about dashed lines not being plotted, I think a lot of Autocad users will find this topic helpful !

I wish you a lovely evening and I would buy you a glass of wine if I could !

You are welcome, if I am ever in your neighborhood I will take you up on the wine (even though I don't drink). :D
