Hi everyone

I have 2 questions I am looking for help with please.

I have moved onto a new machine and there are 2 AC functions I need to change.

1. I used to be able to toggle between Ortho on/off by holding the SHIFT key, on this machine it doesnt activate. Is there a command for this? I know I could use F8 but my hand is over the SHIFT key when I draw so its easier to do it this way.

2. When I activate the MEASURE command AC automatically activates Dynamic Input which makes my cursor jumpy when I move it. How can I stop this from happening? To clarify, I dont want Dynamic Input on when I am in the measure command.

Many thanks

Rob

For first question please check this discussion to see if helps to your case, too.

For second one, is that jump happen only in MEASURE command? It may be that you had the snap activated? Please try to press to see if make any difference.

Hi MSasu.

I have been through that discussion before but after following that advice I still have not solved the problem.

For the second question yes it happens only in the MEASURE command. The snap is not activated before I select MEASURE, but activates when MEASURE is selected.

What are you using the Measure command for?

I prefer to use the Distance command, and it will not turn on the dynamic input.

Perhaps looking at this will help you. Using the Distance command, which I call with D, and picking the centers of the 2 circles, all of the following information is returned at the commandline. You will need to display a minimum of 2 lines of commandline history in order to see all of the reported information.

Thanks Dadgad that's actually a good idea. I use MEASURE to measure distance, so I will merely use DISTANCE instead.

Any help with my SHIFT - ORTHO issue anybody?

Tools - Customize - Interface

In the window that opens expand keyboard shortcuts, and under override keys on the right you can find Toggle orthogonal mode and change that to what ever you want.

It tells me SHIFT is assigned to Toggle Orthogonal Mode but doesn't want to implement.

It seems I'm not the only one with a Dell laptop who has had this issue in the past.

Have you tried any other keys? (other function keys). There may be an issue specifically with your keyboard (and others) if that is the case.

The command is actually DIST. DISTANCE is a system variable.

You might try MEASUREGEOM command as well.
