Manic_d Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Hi Im am just starting to learn AutoCAD (Im taking a break from Vectorworks) and Im going to attempt to do this tutorial here;I cant Post post a link, but its the Site Layout Exercise. However I can't work out how to place the building foot prints accurately within the site boundary. Any advice please? Quote
feargt Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Use the coordinates that are given, there is one for the site boundary, from this point use the dimensions that are given, for both of the building footprints there is also a coordinate given, that is your starting point for easch building then use the dimensions that are given Quote
Manic_d Posted November 11, 2008 Author Posted November 11, 2008 Cheers for that I didnt notice the corner co-ordinates straight away. Quote
feargt Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Sorry but have never used Vectorworks so I do not know Quote

stevsmith Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Please excuse my pittyfull attempt on m/s paint. I have no mouse. only a touch pad. I tried to explain a little. hope it makes sense. you may have to muck around a little to get used to the commands but it will come to you. Quote

I'm pretty familiar with the commands but I'm still having trouble understanding the measurements. Thank you stevesmith for the help. Quote
stevsmith Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 the 15 and 16.25 refer to the centre point of the radius or arc which ever you want to call it. make some temporary construction lines to find this point and draw a circle from that point to the specified size. Why dont you try drawing it as I have shown. and rotate the entire building 45 deg Quote
Manic_d Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 Thanks for your help I've now done it cheers Quote
stevsmith Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Thanks for your help I've now done it cheers You still haven't removed the line in the bottom right hand corner!! That line (if you look at the original) is a dimension line. Not a wall. Quote
