phyrburn Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Hey guys, So I am doing some very basic 4 sided sheet metal parts and what I would like to know is how, if it's possible, can I cut part of a flange out. This is a very quick sketch of what I am doing, unfolded. It is 600mm on the long side and 450mm along the base. The slope is minus 2.5 degrees. Each side has a 50mm inside dimension flange, with the dimensions on the sketch indicating two cut outs that go the full depth of the flange. That is what I am stuck on. I am sure it's possible, and I could possibly hack it up, but I would like to know the correct way of doing this. Have attached my part file below. PID Cover 1.ipt Appreciate the help --warwick Quote
Bishop Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Yep, it's no problem at all. Take a look at the features I added to your part, you'll see how I did it. (Dimensions aren't right or anything, this is just so you can see how to do it.) PID Cover 1 - modified.ipt Quote

phyrburn Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 Thank you so much Bishop and JD. Played around with both methods and applied each one to my own model. Quite confident with both methods now. Thanks again guys, your help is very much appreciated. --warwick Quote
