dodyryda
Hi.. I'm trying out inventor and stuck on something that seems pretty basic. I'm trying to import a dwg file from autocad but whatever I choose as units for the import the drawing is always scaled in inches. so a solid drawn at a length of 350mm in autocad when measured after import in inventor is 8890mm.. can anyone tell me how to import to the correct dimensions.. JD Mather
Attach the original dwg file here. Are you using Inventor or are you using Inventor Fusion?
dodyryda
hi.. thanks I'm using inventor. please see attached.. interesting though if you pull this in to fusion then save as a step / iges file and then import to inventor it dimensions correctly. But when you choose a dwg and set the units to mm it always ignores it.. is this a bug? frame.dwg
JD Mather
Hi.. I'm trying to import a dwg file from autocad but whatever I choose as units for the import the drawing is always scaled in inches... AutoCAD indicates that the original geometry was modeled in Inches. My guess is that this was a mistake - that the intention was probably to model in metric - mm units. In AutoCAD type -dwgunits and follow the command line (be sure to set it to NOT scale, just change the units).
