I saved an acad file I was working on all day in version2011 as an Autocad2007 version and when it completed saving...all the lines in the model space were completely gone. Not a single line left. All paper space tags and labels were still there. Please help!

if you still have the BAK file, rename it to DWG

Welcome to the forum. :)

Have you tried using RECOVER on the drawing?

REGENALL, and ZOOM >EXTENTS?

Like nod said, if you do not have the .bak file to use (by changing the name from .bak to .dwg)

then you should check in your AUTOSAVE folder.

I am guessing it is still there, but you need to ZOOM >EXTENTS.

If you don't know where to find your AUTOSAVE folder, then look at the image,

to find out where it is on your system.

I tried the .bak file, but when it saved to 2007 it updated the .bak, and when I renamed it and opened, it was the same thing. No lines in Model space. Is there anywhere to get incremental backup files. The file size seems not to have changed. It is about the same. I've trayed REGENALL, ZOOM EXTENTS, + LAYON, but nothing there? Any other advice?

Are you using AutoCAD or are you using AutoCAD Architecture?

Did you locate and check in your AUTOSAVE folder? You may still be able to get it back there.

There is a locked Xref layer in the drawing, and a frozen presentation layer too, why?

Might the linework be contained in all of these unreferenced xrefs, which were presumably on the locked Xref layer?

There were a lot of image files that could not be found when the drawing is opened. Have you checked that the pathing to those files is still good?
