Jecobin Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Hi All, I have a problem with Dynamic Input suddenly displaying dimensions in the middle of a line rather than on screen as I work. What I mean is that if I draw a line the length of the line is displayed at the centre of the line. When I zoom in to one end of this line the display of the length of the line is no longer displayed on screen but remains at the centre of the line. I use AutoCAD 2008. I have tried various setting but don't seem to be able to fix the problem. Can anyone help? Regards, John Quote
Dadgad Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Are you sure that you aren't using the DIMENSION toolbar, that certainly sounds like a good description of a linear dimension? But no, probably not, sounds like your DYNAMIC ENTRY settings got messed up. Have you tried these settings? Sorry for all the graphics, try your pointer input setting first. Quote
Jecobin Posted September 21, 2012 Author Posted September 21, 2012 Hi Dadgad, Thanks for your reply. I have checked all the setting and they are OK, and changing them does not cure the problem. I get the length of the line displayed over its center but when I zoom in to one end instead of following me in it remains over the center and to see it I have to zoom out again. Is the file damaged in some way? Quote
Dadgad Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 I don't imagine that it is your file, that would just be too weird. Have you tried rebooting Autocad, and checked your CURRENT PROFILE in OPTIONS? Sure, you could PURGE and AUDIT your drawing, but I doubt it is the problem. Try it in another drawing, I bet it will be just the same. Last shot, some more grist for the dynamic input mill. Quote
Jecobin Posted September 21, 2012 Author Posted September 21, 2012 (edited) Hi Dadgad, I don't understand anything yet about these profiles you mention so I will have to read up on this one. I have rebooted AutoCAD, and of course the system but the problem is the same. This is the only file affected in this way and others work perfectly normal. I did copy the drawing to a fresh file and that did work. In the new file everything works as normal. I did a purge but it did not clean the problem. Nothing I do seems to clear it, yet the drawing is fine in the new file. I don't know what I did but I can't put it right. I have attached the file and maybe you could have a look. Dadgad Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 I don't see it doing anything that strikes me as unusual. I am reasonably astounded to see how many layers, text styles and layer filters there are in the drawing, but I am guessing that they are your baseline configuration, from your (.dwt) template perhaps. If as you say, the drawing is fine in the new file, then I would count your blessings and move on. Sorry I couldn't find a smoking gun. Quote
