bigtimmy Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Hi, my name is Tim and I am using Autocad 2013 to build a screened in porch for somebody. How to I show screen effect in my drawing, or would it just be line drawings. Quote
ReMark Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 2D? Just use a hatch pattern. I am assuming you're talking about the elevation views. Quote
f700es Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Hello "Timmah!" If you are using standard 2x material you can just show a thickened line between your lines for the 2x piece. This is how we did it when I worked for a builder. This is for the plan view. On the elevation a nice hatch pattern printed in a thin grey color works well. Different ways to do it some more might chime in with better answers. Sean Quote
bigtimmy Posted September 12, 2012 Author Posted September 12, 2012 Sorry for being unclear, Im showing it in 3d view. Quote
ReMark Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Yep, that will make a difference! The 'down and dirty' method (this assumes square or rectangular screen shapes) would be to use the 3DFace command and trace your "opening" where the screen will go. Now hatch the 3DFace. Erase the 3DFace. You should now be able to see through your "hatched" screen. Quote
JD Mather Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) I would simply create an extruded box and apply a screen material to it. I didn't spend any time searching for appropriate texture or set appropriate scale, but you can see the ball through the solid with cosmetic material applied. If you are not doing a Rendered view, Remarks lines might be a solution. Edited September 12, 2012 by JD Mather Quote
ReMark Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 U-screen, he-screen we all scream for my-screen! Quote
JD Mather Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Getting kind of scary that I created basically the same image as Remark. (we both posted at approximately the same time) I guess that is why he is screaming! bigtimmy, if you have trouble getting something that looks good - attach your dwg file here. Quote
