DTJ92040 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Ok I have run into a strange problem and have tried everything to fix this issue but so far nothing. I have tried various iterations of PICKADD, PICKSTYLE, really all the "PICK" commands. I have also double checked my Selection Opitons with another computer that is working correctly and everything matches, so i am at a loss as to what is causing this. Anyway the problem is I can use a drag window to select multiple objects, but when I try to deselect with a drag window+SHIFT it will only deselect one object at a time within the window, where as before it would deselect everything the within the windows selection. I am using AutoCAD 2013 and this is driving me crazy it only started the other day and I think I accidentally enabled something but am not sure what. This started after my AutoCAD "freaked out" and I had to close it so I think I will have to reinstall it but i just want to be sure it is not something simple first. If you need anymore information I will give what I can. Quote
DTJ92040 Posted August 23, 2012 Author Posted August 23, 2012 PICKADD=2 (have tried 1 and 0) PICKSTYLE=1 (have tried all others) PICKFIRST=1 (needs to be on) PICKDRAG=2 (needs to be on) And still same out come. Selection works great. I can select in groups or one at a time. But i still cant deselect multiple items with a SHIFT drag selection. Quote
neophoible Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 You say your PICKFIRST must be On, but did you test it just to see if it misbehaves while in a command? About the only thing you didn’t mention was PICKAUTO. It has three settings as of 2012 and with a value of 2 it does not seem to behave the same when Shifting as it does when not Shifting. What can you tell us there? Quote
DTJ92040 Posted August 23, 2012 Author Posted August 23, 2012 PICKFIRST and PICKDRAG have been tested on all settings. i just checked PICKAUTO it is on 1 and i tried 0 & 2 with no change to the original problem. Quote
DTJ92040 Posted August 23, 2012 Author Posted August 23, 2012 Oh wait! I'm Sorry. In a command such as Move or Copy everything works correctly. The only issue is just normal selection or SHIFT+selection it still wants to deselect one item at a time. I went back and tested PICKFIRST and it seemed to have no effect on in command selection. SLW210 Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Must be some sort of a bug in 2013, works fine here on 2011. "PICKADD" 2 "PICKAUTO" 1 "PICKDRAG" 1 "PICKFIRST" 1 "PICKSTYLE" 2 Quote
Sid0201 Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I'm using a 2013 trial and not having this issue, does it have the issue in multiple drawings? Quote
neophoible Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 It does sound like some sort of bug. The selection does work differently with PICKAUTO=2, but if you are not using that, then I may have to give up. What I had been building up to was to note how far from the objects you were when windowing, just to make sure the pickbox wasn’t detecting an object instead of blank area. In the PICKAUTO=2 mode, holding down the mouse button and dragging is supposed to make a Window selection even if you select an object. If you release the button immediately, it’s supposed to just pick up the one object. I guess you could try holding and dragging just to see if that has some effect… After reading so much about 2013 and noting that they even pulled the Service Pack due to fatal errors, I’m beginning to think we may just skip that release altogether. We’ll own it, of course, just not install it. Triskaidekaphobia may be in the air. On the other hand, I don’t recall having such deep probs with Release 13, but “I’ve slept since then.” I don’t think we will need the new dwg database right away. If we do, then I may have to install one copy…on somebody else’s machine, of course. Quote
DTJ92040 Posted August 24, 2012 Author Posted August 24, 2012 ya i only have 2 machines testing 13 and so far we dont like it, it crashes while opening, it crashes while saving, it crashes in the middle of commands. i know it is not a ram issue because my computer has 4Gb and the other has 8. Quote
Arry C Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I had the same issue! If you are using a background image, try turning it off. It worked for me, as for some reason my cursor kept selecting/deselecting the background image rather than what I wanted. And my 13 often crashes while opening too. Quote
DTJ92040 Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 i just realized now everything works fine. this must have been a glitch. im sorry this is no help but i have no idea what i did to fix it. Quote
Arry C Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Mine is getting worse. Now I can't even open a new drawing without it crashing Quote
cad_t Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I am having the same deselecting problem and am using 2013 also frustrating! Quote
