oegel Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 Yes, my attachment is in OPTIONS dialog, and yes that is the annoyance I want to eliminate. I want the tool tips for tool bar icons to remain functional without the annoying yellow text box popup along with them which as often as not blocks out something that needs to be visible. As I mentioned in my initial post, I did find a way sometime ago, that did accomplish what I am looking for. But if that is no longer possible, then I guess I will just have "bite the bullet" and forget about it. Thanks everybody. I don't want to waste anymore of everybody's time. Have a great day. Quote
Dana W Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Holey Cow. You can turn off rollover tool tips, the balloons, without turning off the tool tips in uh, oh never mind. Wait. The rollover tool tips are for selected objects. Tool tips are the annoying balloons, aren't they? Who's on first? That's right, who's on first. What? No, What's on second base. Quote
oegel Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 Hey that's very funny "Dana W". I got a chuckle. Quote
oegel Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 It must be "ReMark". Anyway, thanks everyone for your time. I'm sorry to have been a pest. Have a good one. Quote
ReMark Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 We'll let you know if and when you become a pest...believe me. Until then, happy cadding. Quote
lamensterms Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 (edited) Just revisiting this thread... I was having a similar annoyance with some balloons. Perhaps this link can help you the same as they did me.. http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2010-2011-2012-DWG/Help-bubble-won-t-go-away/td-p/3688068/page/2 The was also some registry edit which allowed you to disable the info center or communications center... but I'm afraid I don't remember the specifics. Good luck. Edited August 21, 2013 by lamensterms 1 Quote
ReMark Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 There is a difference between rollover Tool Tips and balloons. Re: InfoCenter. Are you referring to Owen Wengerd's .MSI file? It can be found on the ManuSoft freebies webpage. The full file name is AcadInfoCenterOff.msi. Here is a link to the page. http://www.manusoft.com/software/freebies/misc.html 1 Quote
lamensterms Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Hey ReMark, The InforCenter refedit I was trying to remember was this one: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2013-2014-DWG-Format/Turn-Off-Infocenter-Live-Updates-Help-in-Autocad-2013/td-p/4319440 There is a difference between rollover Tool Tips and balloons. Agreed, I personally like to have the rollover Tool Tips (as a object selectio preview type thing) as well as the Tool Tips for the Tool Bars icons. I don't like the 'Did you know..' balloons in the top right of the window, which I believe are a feature of he InfoCenter - these balloons seem to make my session lag just a fraction, as well as extending the startup time of ACAD. ReMark Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 That tip requires the user to do manually what Wengerd's .MSI file does automatically doesn't it? Not everyone is willing or comfortable editing the Registry. Quote
PotGuy Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 I think you're right. I just read it wrong. Not enough coffee, yet. Only on my second cup. Eight more to go. I don't drink either. I may have a can of Coke, but no tea or coffee. Predominantly water. Yes, I am a freak of nature. Quote

Not everyone is willing or comfortable editing the Registry. It seems so, though I haven't used the .MSI, so I'm afraid I can't vouch for what it does. Fair call regarding the registry edit though... they can be daunting and dangerous. Quote
