bachrock Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 Any chance you could post a small sample drawing (DWG file not an image) exhibiting this unusual behavior? The behavior happens when I physically print the drawing. Also, I've tried posting here, but it doens't work even when the file size is below 1 MB. Quote
bachrock Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 Can you maybe post the drawing, or portion of it so others can test? -edit- ReMark beat me to it... I could e-mail you the drawing, but I'm unable to post drawings here. Maybe it's that I'm at work and a lot of things are blocked. Quote
SLW210 Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Are you selecting "Go Advanced" to lower right of reply box? Then select "Manage Attachments". Quote
bachrock Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 Are you selecting "Go Advanced" to lower right of reply box? Then select "Manage Attachments". Yes that's what I'm doing. Quote
SLW210 Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I had to WBLOCK this one also to reduce the file size. Quote
bachrock Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 I had to WBLOCK this one also to reduce the file size. So you think it will work now? If so, what did you do? Or are you just putting it up here for others? Quote
ReMark Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I think he put it up for others who might be interested in taking on the challenge of figuring out what is happening. Quote
rickh Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 It plotted fine for me with the dwg to pdf.pc3. I don't have 2012 though so maybe there is some difference there. I also didn't have the xref'd image, but attached my own and everything worked like normal. Hopefully someone with your version can test it out. Quote
ReMark Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 A sample plotted fine for me too. I windowed a portion to get a little bit of everything including structures, numbers, roadway, curved multi-leaders and some of the larger text. My test plot was done on a Canon iP3500 inkjet printer using a sheet size of 8.5x11. I used plain AutoCAD 2010 to open the test drawing. Quote
ReMark Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 This is the area I printed. Did I miss anything? Quote
bachrock Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 This is the area I printed. Did I miss anything? You didn't. It looks good. I can make a PDF that looks like that, it's just when I go to physically print it that I run into problems. Actually, right now the background image won't transfer to PDF while it will print. Quote
ReMark Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I have to admit to having messed up the first time around. I did a straight-out print I did not create a PDF. So, I went back a second time, windowed a different area of the drawing, and created a PDF from inside AutoCAD via the Plot command dialog box. The results were the same; all objects/text printed. What method are you using to create your PDF? And you have checked the settings of your CTB or STB plot style file and nothing is amiss? I used a straight monochrome.ctb for both tests. Quote
rkent Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 You didn't. It looks good. I can make a PDF that looks like that, it's just when I go to physically print it that I run into problems. Actually, right now the background image won't transfer to PDF while it will print. I can repeat the problem, BUT when I change that pen color 255 to 7 it works just fine, either PDF or to a physical printer. Quote
ReMark Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Funny, I did not change pen colors at all and it plotted fine. Nor can I replicate the problem. Quote
rickh Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 You can try it with this .pc3 if it helps any (and if I'm allowed to attach). pc3.zip Quote
ReMark Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Did you read my response in post #33? I had a couple of questions. Thanks. Quote

I just tried DWG to PDF in a viewport in PS. Everything was fine except the image didn't show up. I tried clicking PLOT and doing an Adobe PDF by windowing a section of my drawing and ended up with a blank page. I'll now try printing a section of it to 8.5" x 11" paper. Quote
ReMark Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Have you tried the Export to PDF option found under the bi red "A" (content browser) along with the commands to print, publish, etc.? Sorry, but I have to leave now. Have a meeting to attend. I'll try to check back later and see what progress you have made (or lack thereof). Good luck. Quote
rkent Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Funny, I did not change pen colors at all and it plotted fine. Nor can I replicate the problem. Your CTB has 255 set to plot black, the acad.ctb I tried is set to plot to object color, so there is the difference. Quote
